New Honda Civic Arrives Lighter and More Powerful in 2027

Honda is preparing to reintroduce its legendary sedan model. The new generation Civic, expected to debut in 2027, will feature a 90kg lighter chassis, an improved hybrid system, and modern design details. The Honda Civic, one of the most established models in the automotive world, is set to appear with its 12th generation.

The editorial team reports that significant innovations in both design and technology are already being discussed for the new model. Although the official design of the new Civic has not yet been revealed, photos taken during intensive camouflage testing have been leaked. Inspired by these photos, designer Theophilus Chin is providing automotive enthusiasts with insights into the potential appearance of the new generation Civic through render images, drawing on the brand's current design language.

The new generation Civic is expected to have a more elegant and technological look, particularly with a sharp LED headlight signature similar to electric models like the Honda e:NS2 and a refreshed bumper design. When viewed from the side profile, the car exhibits a silhouette reminiscent of the current BMW 5 Series sedan, which is a very ambitious reference point for the model's traditional design line. One of the most striking aspects of the car will be the new platform to be used. According to information released by Honda, thanks to the new architecture, the car will be approximately 90kg lighter compared to the current model. Furthermore, clearer steering response, balanced road holding, and a reinforced body structure are also promised.

Honda will use the latest version of its e:HEV hybrid system in the new generation. This system, which combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors, aims to provide around a 30% improvement in fuel efficiency. Additionally, the car will feature the "Honda S+ Shift" system, which first appeared in the Prelude model. Despite not having a physical gearbox, this system creates a sense of gear shifts through sound and traction control. Honda plans to share approximately 60% of the parts for the new Civic with other models such as the HR-V, CR-V, and Accord. This strategy will reduce research and development costs while accelerating the time-to-market for new models. Once launched, the new Civic is expected to compete with strong rivals such as the updated Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, and Kia K4.
