Suzuki has introduced its first electric motor (BEV) model in Indonesia.
Japanese automaker Suzuki aims to challenge the dominance of Chinese automakers in this rapidly growing segment of the Indonesian market. The company introduced the eVitara, its first battery-electric car in Indonesia, a compact SUV.
Redaksiya reports that the five-seater eVitara is assembled by Maruti Suzuki, the company's Indian subsidiary. The model was unveiled at the Indonesia International Motor Show earlier this month. The car is equipped with a 61-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and is powered by a front-axle electric motor that delivers 128 kilowatts of power and 193 Nm of torque. It can be charged from 15% to 80% in 50 minutes with its DC fast charging system.
The eVitara features a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including: * Adaptive Cruise Control * Lane Keeping Assist * Blind Spot Monitoring * Rear Cross-Traffic Alert * 360-degree camera system * Hill Start Assist
The car's price starts at 755 million IDR (44,690 USD). The eVitara has also been launched in India, marking Suzuki's first BEV model in the country. Suzuki is India's largest automaker, producing approximately 2.25 million units last year. The company has already installed over 2,000 Maruti Suzuki exclusive charging points in more than 1,100 cities across India and plans to increase this number to 100,000 by 2030. The eVitara began production in August 2025 at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The model is already available in Europe and Japan, and the company plans to enter over 100 markets worldwide.
