The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted strongly to the statements made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi regarding Hezbollah.
Redaksiya reports that the Iranian official's statement, “We support them from afar,” was met with anger in Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that these words were considered an interference in the country's internal affairs.
The official statement noted: “Such statements coming from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are unacceptable and a clear interference in Lebanon's sovereignty. Interstate relations must be based on principles of mutual respect and equality. The support of internal actors outside of and contrary to state institutions is unacceptable for the Lebanese state.”
With this statement, the Lebanese government openly protested Iran's influence over Hezbollah and declared that it would prevent any foreign interference that harms the country's internal stability.
