According to American journalist Mario Mavfal, the Istanbul Strait has become one of the world's most important maritime transit points. This narrow waterway, connecting the Black Sea with the Mediterranean Sea, is under Turkey's control and serves as the sole passage for Russia and Ukraine to send oil, grain, and warships to the sea.
The editorial office reports that, according to the Montreux Convention, Turkey can restrict the passage of warships during wartime. The de facto disruption in the Strait of Hormuz due to the Iran war has made the Istanbul Strait even more strategically important.
This situation has further strengthened Turkey's position in the Iran war. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan can influence the flow of grain and oil from the Black Sea, restrict Russia's potential reinforcement and supply routes, and position Turkey as a key transit passage.
