Caution in Gold and Oil After US-Iran Ceasefire in Islamabad

Following the temporary ceasefire achieved between the US and Iran in the global market, attention has shifted to an important face-to-face meeting to be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. This high-level meeting, the first since the war, is being closely monitored across a wide spectrum, from gold prices to energy markets. While diplomatic activity continues, cautious behavior is observed in the gold and oil markets.

Redaksiya reports that an ounce of gold traded at $4,781 in international markets yesterday. In energy markets, concerns about supply security were replaced by a limited softening before the meeting; the price of a barrel of London Brent crude oil decreased by 0.6% to $93.4.

Analysts emphasize that the decisions emerging from the talks will be crucial, especially in terms of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and energy transportation lines.

The parties are meeting face-to-face for the first time after the temporary ceasefire announced on April 8, following the process that began on February 28 between the US and Iran and dragged the region into war. In the talks to be held in Islamabad, the US delegation is led by President's Assistant (Deputy Head) JD Vance, and the Iranian delegation by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. In his statements before the meeting, Ghalibaf stated that they have a trust issue with the US but are ready for an agreement on the condition that the rights of the people are granted.
