New leaks have revealed the front camera features of this year's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. Apple will enhance selfie quality with a 24 MP sensor.
Redaksiya reports that Apple is expected to make a significant upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro's front camera system, which is anticipated to be unveiled in September. According to information leaked from reliable sources, a new 24-megapixel sensor will be used in the Pro models, aiming to elevate selfie and video call quality to the highest level. This development is seen as the next step in Apple's continuous advancement in camera technology.
At the heart of the leaks is the claim that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models will transition to a 24 MP front camera sensor. This signifies an upgrade beyond the 18 MP enhancement expected with the iPhone 17 series, following Apple's long-standing use of 12 MP sensors from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 16.
This increase in resolution is expected to provide significantly more detail, especially in selfies and video calls. Furthermore, the higher resolution could also lead to a noticeable improvement in portrait mode shots and performance in low-light conditions.
These claims are not based on a single source. Previously, financial analysis firms like JP Morgan and supply chain sources had also shared similar reports. This situation strengthens the expectation of a 24 MP front camera and aligns with Apple's strategy of making gradual hardware upgrades rather than major leaps each year.
While a significant innovation is expected on the camera front, a radical change in the overall design of the phone is not predicted. However, a reduction in the Dynamic Island design, which affects the screen experience, might occur. Recent leaks suggest that Apple could move some Face ID components under the display, reducing the notch width by approximately 35%. This could lead to a slimmer, pill-shaped cutout while preserving the core TrueDepth system.
Radical design rumors, such as a punch-hole display or a completely under-display Face ID, may have stemmed from translation errors. For now, current expectations are focused on a smaller Dynamic Island.
Of course, there is still time until the launch of the iPhone 18 series in September, and plans can change. However, initial leaks indicate that Apple will continue to enhance the front camera experience in its Pro models.
