Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), commented on the presidential elections held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). According to him, the election took place with very low participation, and this result does not fully reflect the will of the Turkish Cypriots.
The editorial office reports that Devlet Bahçeli noted that despite Tufan Erhürman's victory based on unofficial results in the election, the low voter turnout cast a shadow on the legitimacy of the results. He emphasized that “The fate of Turkish Cypriots cannot be represented with such low participation.”
Bahçeli added that the TRNC parliament should convene urgently, reject the election results and the idea of returning to a federation, and also make a decision to unite with the Republic of Turkey.
