The recent events unfolding in Ukraine have once again brought to the forefront the role of military technologies in conflicts. Specifically, the use of "Geranium" unmanned aerial vehicles by the Russian armed forces against the Ukrainian Armed Forces' helicopters, and the control of this operation via "Starlink," are noteworthy points. This incident once again proves how crucial technological superiority is in modern warfare.
Redaksiya reports that technology expert Sergey Flash Beskrestnov stated that Russia used "Geraniums" controlled via "Starlink" in its attack on helicopters in the Kropyvnytski region. Beskrestnov has also been appointed as an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. According to the expert, during the attack, the "Geraniums" were manually controlled at a low altitude to avoid radar detection. He also noted that he had anticipated such an attack.
According to Beskrestnov's post on his Telegram channel, "Yesterday morning, the enemy attacked helicopters in the Kropyvnytski region with 'Mines.' In the image, we see automatic target acquisition and manual control. However, there were no UAVs nearby to create a mesh network. I conclude that we are witnessing the first use of 'Shahed' drones over 'Starlink.'" Mikhail Fedorov, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, announced on his Facebook page that Sergey Flash Beskrestnov has been appointed as an advisor for technological development in the defense sector. According to the minister, Flash will work with captured equipment and be involved in the expert evaluation of new military developments. Beskrestnov attributed his acceptance of this position to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' insufficient responsiveness to his proposals and ideas. These events further emphasize the increasing role of technology in warfare and the importance of specialists in the defense sector.
