UEFA Cancels 2026 Finalissima Tournament

UEFA has announced the cancellation of the 2026 Finalissima tournament, which was planned to be held in Qatar between Argentina and Spain. This decision was made due to the effects of the political situation in the region and the inability to reach an agreement on alternative dates. The tournament was planned to be held on March 27 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

Redaksiya reports that the main reason for the postponement of the match, as stated in UEFA's official announcement, was the political situation in the region. No agreement was reached between UEFA and the Argentine Football Association regarding a new date or venue for the tournament. For this reason, the Finalissima tournament scheduled for 2026 has been canceled.

Previously, proposals for Finalissima 2026 to be held on various dates at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, the capital of Spain, in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, or at another neutral venue in Europe were not accepted by the Argentine Football Association. Spain, the winner of EURO 2024, and Argentina, the champion of the 2024 Copa América, had earned the right to face each other in Finalissima 2026.
