It is claimed that the war initiated by US President Donald Trump and his supporters in Iran could be considered illegal within the United States itself. The Guardian newspaper reported on this matter.

The editorial, citing its source, reports that Wells Dickson, Chief Counsel at the Center for Constitutional Rights, stated: "These are objectives of military policy. They do not constitute a legal basis for an armed attack on another country.".

Former State Department lawyer Brian Finnegan also emphasized the violation of legal defense requirements. He noted that the United States has the capability to deter Israel from an attack.

Marco Milanovic, a professor of international law at the University of Reading, added that it is illogical for the US to initiate military operations instead of restraining an ally.

A number of politicians also stated that they agree with the experts' assessments. For example, Mark Warner, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee from the Democratic Party, noted that there is no immediate threat to the US.
