Yemen's Houthis have confirmed that the group's head of government, Ahmed al-Rahawi, was killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike on the capital Sanaa this week.

The editorial office, citing Al Jazeera, reports that the attack occurred on Thursday. It was reported that several ministers were also killed alongside Ahmed al-Rahawi. The Houthis have not released additional details.

The Israeli army stated that a "military facility belonging to the Houthi terror regime" was targeted in Sanaa. This attack was carried out at a time of increasing tension in the region amid Israel's war in Gaza.

In recent months, the Houthis have carried out attacks on Israel and Western ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. They present this as a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza.
