Chinese automaker BYD unveiled its second-generation "Blade" battery, notable for its high-speed charging support, and 1500 kW charging stations at an event today. According to information released by the company, the most significant feature of the new battery, which will be offered in various capacities, is its unprecedented charging speeds.
Redaksiya reports that the second-generation battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. It is also reported that even at very low temperatures, such as -20 degrees Celsius, charging from 20% to 97% takes only 12 minutes. Behind these speeds are the newly introduced 1500 kW charging stations.
The new stations, designed in the shape of the letter "T", feature charging cables designed to connect directly from above. The company aims to reduce the charging process to as short a time as refueling a car (in supported vehicles) through these stations, while also increasing driving range with the new batteries.
