According to NASA, during Artemis II's flyby around the Moon on April 6, 2026, the Moon and Earth will be visible in the same frame. Both celestial bodies are partially illuminated by the Sun. The Moon's surface stands out in sharp detail in the foreground, while Earth appears further away in the background, smaller and with softer light.
Redaksiya reports that a faint reflection, subtly superimposed over the scene, is also visible in the spacecraft's window. Although the Moon's phases differ, both bodies are shaped by the same sunlight, showcasing the geometry of the Sun-Earth-Moon system from deep space.
NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, and Victor Glover, as well as Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, are preparing to return to Earth. Their splashdown in the Pacific Ocean is planned for approximately 8:07 p.m. EDT.
