He noted that the US has not offered NATO membership because NATO membership is clearly written. Therefore, it is important for the US to accept guarantees similar to Article 5 and corresponding security guarantees. He also added that they are currently working on this issue and have achieved certain progress.
The head of state stated that they are exchanging views on sensitive issues and have heard the Russians' perspectives and objectives. He noted that they are making efforts to explain their position and are pleased to be heard. Zelensky emphasized that time will tell what the outcome will be on a sensitive issue like territory. According to the press, Ukraine is ready to discuss painful compromises, ranging from abandoning its NATO course to holding elections in the country as soon as possible, but there is a line that Zelensky is not ready to cross. The President responded to the question of whether the US demanded Ukraine's withdrawal from the Donetsk region within the framework of a "peace plan." He also emphasized that discussions on security guarantees for Ukraine are ongoing. According to Zelensky, he told his US counterparts to convey their views to the Russians. In his words, Ukraine perceives this as demands from the Russian Federation.
