Zakharova: Protection of French museums is more important than Ukraine

Paying attention to the protection of French museums is more important than sending troops to Ukraine. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on her Telegram channel.

Redaksiya reports that Zakharova voiced these thoughts in response to information from the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) that the General Staff of the French Armed Forces is preparing to send a contingent of up to 2,000 soldiers and officers to Ukraine at the instruction of President Emmanuel Macron.

The diplomat ironically noted that by 2025, 1123 museums will be operating in France. It would be better if Macron sent these soldiers in pairs to protect these cultural objects. She also emphasized what the situation would be like with the Louvre Museum due to the deplorable internal security situation and violations of the law. According to EADaily, last week attackers removed unique exhibits from the Louvre using glass cutters and a lift in just a few minutes and fled on scooters. On October 19, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccu stated that four criminals entered the museum using an auto-hydraulic lift they brought to its walls. After opening the display cases in the Apollo Gallery, they stole a total of nine jewelry items, one of which – Empress Eugenie's (wife of Napoleon III) crown, adorned with 1354 diamonds – fell during their escape. According to the prosecutor, the investigation's version leans towards the robbery being carried out by professionals. Beccu noted that the value of the stolen jewelry items amounts to 88 million euros. According to Le Figaro newspaper, police arrested two suspects in the Louvre robbery case on October 25.
