Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK has stated that there has been no contact between former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny and Russian diplomats. This is a noteworthy point against the backdrop of events occurring amid the current tension in Russia-Ukraine relations.
Redaksiya reports that the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to London, Andrey Kelin, has stated that Russian diplomats have had no contact with Zaluzhny. According to Kelin, there are no diplomatic relations between representatives of Russia and Ukraine in the current situation. The ambassador noted that Zaluzhny periodically appears in Western media and speaks at local political centers.
Kelin added that Zaluzhny bases his statements on his previous experience and expresses views close to those of the ruling circles in Kyiv. He refrained from commenting on Zaluzhny's future career prospects but emphasized that this topic is a focus of the British press. According to EADaily, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, was appointed as Ukraine's Ambassador to London on May 9, 2024. He was replaced by Oleksandr Syrskyi, who previously commanded the ground forces, as the Commander-in-Chief. In the autumn of 2023, a number of Ukrainian and Western media outlets wrote about a possible conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny, noting that Zaluzhny posed a threat to Zelensky as a presidential candidate.
