Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced his resignation from his parliamentary mandate in the Hungarian parliament. However, he intends to remain the leader of the Fidesz party, which has moved into opposition.
The editorial office reports that Viktor Orban explained his decision in a video message: "The mandate I received as the leader of the Fidesz-KDNP list is essentially a parliamentary mandate for Fidesz, so I decided to return it. Currently, I am needed not in parliament, but in the reorganization of the national camp."
The politician emphasized that he has led the community for almost four decades, during which time the party has seen both successes and failures, victories and setbacks in elections. Orban noted that "one thing has not changed: this camp (Fidesz-KDNP – Ed.) has always remained the most united and cohesive political community in Hungary."
Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on April 12, where the pro-European "Tisza" party, led by Peter Maqyar, won. He was also the main candidate for the role of the country's prime minister.
