Energy Crisis in Ukraine: Situation Worsens in Regions

The situation with energy supply in Ukraine, especially in a number of regions, is causing serious concern. Damage to energy infrastructure as a result of missile and drone attacks carried out by Russia has created problems with the electricity supply to the population. This situation is creating difficulties for people living in various regions of the country.

Redaksiya reports that according to Stanislav Ignatyev, an energy expert at the Ukrainian Future Institute, the worst situation regarding electricity is currently observed in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, and among major cities, in Kherson, Chernihiv, and the capital. Since these regions lack their own energy production, power outages may last longer compared to other places.

Energy workers continue to address the consequences of Russian missile and drone attacks on energy facilities, which are causing power outages. At the same time, consumers are warned that the situation in the energy system could change in case of new attacks by the occupiers, and they are advised to refer to the pages of regional energy companies to obtain up-to-date information. Gennadi Ryabtsev, a senior researcher at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, believes that it is possible to reduce the duration of power outages, and this can be achieved by the adoption of a bill by people's deputies, especially regarding the abolition of customs duties on energy equipment from Western partners. On Tuesday, December 23, hourly power outage schedules for the population will be implemented in most regions of Ukraine. According to "Ukrenergo's" Telegram channel, restrictions on electricity supply will also affect industrial consumers. Restrictions on electricity supply continue as part of planned measures.
