It is reported that foreign volunteers who sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have broader opportunities for service. This includes the right to choose their combat brigade, direction, and application specifics in accordance with their training, experience, and desires. This ensures better integration, equal opportunities alongside Ukrainian fighters, and more efficient use of personnel resources.
Redaksiya reports that all foreigners wishing to fight for Ukraine have been doing so for a long time. This was stated by Mamuka Mamulashvili, commander of the "Georgian Legion" volunteer battalion, during an эфир on "Ranok.LIVE" when answering a question about the expediency of introducing mandatory contract service for 100,000 foreigners of conscription age living in Ukraine.
According to Mamulashvili, a person will know exactly how long they will serve. They will be able to test themselves, to see how much they can endure the conditions offered by the army. "I think it's better to start with a minimum, and this will attract more people who really want to test themselves in combat," Mamulashvili added. He also emphasized that foreigners who want to be part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and fight for Ukraine are already fighting. At the same time, he added that if compulsion is introduced, it could lead to foreigners leaving Ukraine.
According to UNIAN, in November 2025, the system of utilizing the skills of foreign volunteers after signing contracts for their recruitment and service in the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is expanding. According to him, foreign legions have been created in Ukraine, and anyone can join them. He recalled that the "Georgian Legion," created in 2014, was one of the first legions. He does not rule out that the idea of introducing a six-month contract for foreigners could be of positive significance, as people will understand how long their service terms will be.
Earlier, UNIAN reported that approximately 40 percent of foreign volunteers fighting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are from Latin America. These include Chileans, Brazilians, and about 2,000 Colombians. He noted that compulsion could encourage foreigners to leave Ukraine, while a six-month voluntary contract would do the opposite.
