Turkey holds new talks with US on defense industry

According to Bloomberg, Turkey is holding consultations with the US to ensure the local production of some parts of combat aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Lockheed Martin, with the aim of balancing aircraft purchases exceeding $10 billion.

The editorial office reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan aims to achieve a softening of CAATSA sanctions with the support of US President Donald Trump. The goal is for Turkish companies to return to the F-35 fighter production program, and at the same time, to acquire new F-16 Viper aircraft and their engines.

According to the information, official Ankara plans to expand cooperation in the defense industry and strengthen strategic partnership in this direction.
