Recently, tension in the political arena continues to rise, with speeches and social media posts by some politicians causing widespread discussion. Such events affect the political environment within the country, further deepening disagreements between various parties.
Redaksiya reports that former President Donald Trump called six Democratic lawmakers 'traitors' and demanded their arrest. This move comes after the politicians released a video calling on members of the military and intelligence communities not to obey unlawful orders. Trump stated in a post on the 'Truth Social' platform, 'This is truly bad and dangerous for our country.' He later used phrases like 'Traitorous behavior from traitors!!!' and 'Arrest them??'
Trump also reposted several posts criticizing Democrats, including one user's post demanding the lawmakers be hanged. The President's angry posts followed a video released on Tuesday by Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Representative Jason Crow of Colorado, Representative Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, Representative Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, and Representative Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania. In the video, the six Democratic lawmakers directly addressed members of the military and intelligence communities. All of these lawmakers served in military or national security roles before being elected. The video stated, 'We know you are currently under immense stress and pressure.' 'Americans trust the military. But that trust is at risk. This administration is pitting military-clad and intelligence community professionals against American citizens. Like us, you also swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution. Currently, threats to our Constitution are not only from abroad but also right here at home.' The lawmakers continued, 'Our laws are clear: You can refuse unlawful orders.' 'You must refuse unlawful orders. No one is obligated to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.' The Democrats stated that they understood 'this is difficult' and 'it's a tough time to be a public servant,' but assured the community, 'we have your back.' They added, 'Now, more than ever, the American people need you. We need you to stand up for our laws, our Constitution, and our identity as Americans. Don't abandon ship.'
