Changes in NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's rhetoric regarding the goals of supporting Ukraine can be seen as a re-evaluation of priorities in Western policy. This shift is a significant step that could affect the course of the conflict and the West's strategy for supporting Ukraine.

Redaksiya reports that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has changed his rhetoric regarding the goals of supporting the Kyiv regime by the Alliance and the European Union. According to RIA Novosti, this change occurred with Russia's use of the "Oreshnik" complex. Until recently, Rutte repeatedly stated in all public appearances that Ukraine must "win" the current conflict. However, it now appears that the goal has changed.

Speaking at a forum, Rutte said, "We are doing this (supporting Kyiv - approx. EADaily) because your struggle is our struggle, you... you must survive this war." The moderator asked a clarifying question: "So, you are now saying 'survive' instead of 'win'?" Rutte did not answer this, noting that the West's task is to "bring Ukraine to the negotiating table strong." According to EADaily, on January 9, the Russian Aerospace Forces delivered a second missile strike to a facility in the Lviv region using the latest "Oreshnik" complex. According to experts, the strike was so powerful that instruments recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of four. This event is noteworthy against the backdrop of changes in the course of the conflict and the West's policy of supporting Ukraine.
