Recent events concerning relations between Russia and the US and the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis have led to increased tension in the international arena. These issues are accompanied by mutual accusations and sanctions between the parties, further complicating the situation in the region.

Redaksiya reports that Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the US decision to impose new sanctions against Russia, described this step as an "unfriendly" act. Peskov emphasized that such steps damage the possibility of restoring bilateral relations and stated that Russia will not abandon its goals. He noted that Russia acts in accordance with its interests and stressed the importance of establishing good relations with the US, as well as with all countries.

Peskov also touched upon the stagnation in the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis. He stated that Ukrainians do not want the negotiation process, while Europeans are provoking them into it. Peskov noted that the European Union (EU) is in a state of war hysteria, emphasizing that this is one of the reasons for the stagnation. The US Department of War's statement indicated that this step was taken due to Russia's lack of serious commitment to the peace process to end the war in Ukraine. Peskov added that they would respond to attempts to seize frozen Russian assets in the West and would use all legal means for this. Peskov made these statements in an interview with the "Rossiya-1" television channel. The US Treasury Department had added Russia's two major oil companies, "Rosneft" and "Lukoil," along with their subsidiaries, to the sanctions list on October 23.
