US President Donald Trump, after his meeting with New York's newly elected mayor Zohren Mamdani at the White House, stated that he believes she will “perform very well” in leading the city. Trump also emphasized that they would support Mamdani and noted that differing political views would not hinder cooperation.

The editorial office reports that questions regarding Mamdani at the press conference held after the meeting drew Trump's attention. The President stated that while he approached some of Mamdani's views cautiously, he believed her positions would change over time. Trump added that he “would be more satisfied the better job she does,” clearly expressing this.

At the press conference, journalists reminded Mamdani of her previous statement that she would have Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrested if he came to New York. Mamdani confirmed the question, stating that they had discussed it. US President Donald Trump, however, noted that this topic was not discussed during the meeting and stated that he did not consider the issue important.

To the reporter's question, “Are you saying you think Trump is a fascist?”, Mamdani replied, “We had talked about it.” Donald Trump intervened at that moment, attempting to defuse the situation with the words: “It's not important, you can say it.”

US President Donald Trump noted after the meeting that Mamdani would both surprise some conservatives and was already supported by liberals. Trump's words indicated that the meeting at the White House conveyed a message of cooperation rather than a political tone.
