Netanyahu and US President Trump held a joint press conference at the White House to present a peace plan prepared for Gaza. Trump evaluated the plan as an opportunity towards “eternal peace” and noted Netanyahu's agreement; Netanyahu, in turn, stated that the plan ensures Israel's war objectives and that the return of hostages is the main priority.
The editorial office reports that among the main provisions of the plan are the immediate and full return of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas, and the demilitarization of Gaza. If the agreement is accepted, a phased withdrawal and the release of hostages within 72 hours are envisioned; subsequently, an international body will fully disarm Hamas, and Gaza will be controlled by establishing a temporary civilian administration for civil governance, separate from Hamas and the Palestinian National Authority. Netanyahu emphasized that in case of the plan's failure, Israel will continue operations, stating it could be “the easy way” or “the hard way.”
In his speech, Netanyahu highlighted the importance of not forgetting the October 7 tragedy, the heroism of the soldiers, and Israel's security responsibility. Trump, for his part, stated that he is trying to gather international support for the plan, wishes for a “new chapter for Gaza” to open, and will give full support to Israel if needed; he also concluded by mentioning the “Abraham Accords” and the prospects for cooperation in the region.
