The government led by Benjamin Netanyahu has lost its majority vote in parliament as a result of the departure of the Shas Party, one of Israel's ruling coalition parties, from the government.
The newsroom reports that opposition leader Yair Lapid, in a statement regarding this, assessed the current situation as a minority government that has lost its legal legitimacy. According to him, such a government is not authorized to send soldiers to war or to make vital decisions.
Lapid stated that a minority government cannot decide the fate of Gaza, nor potential agreements with Syria or Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that Israel must exit this illegitimate situation as soon as possible and proceed to early elections.
