The Russian State Duma has agreed to create a legal mechanism for making entry into the city of Moscow paid. According to the adopted decision, the leadership of the capital is granted the authority to apply an entry fee in specific territories.

The editorial board reports that the legislative change allows Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin to select certain districts and determine the entry fee amount for those areas. Within the framework of these authorities, it is envisioned that tariffs and the zones where they will be applied will be approved by separate decisions.

It is stated that the law will come into force on March 1, 2026. According to the official explanation, the goal is to reduce traffic congestion, protect urban infrastructure, and regulate the ecological burden.

It is noted that it is not yet known whether paid entry will cover the entire city. Specific details and tariffs on the matter are expected to be announced by the Moscow Mayor's office in the near future.
