French President Emmanuel Macron has no intention of joining the "Peace Council" on Gaza created by US President Donald Trump. The reason cited is Macron's concern about the decreasing influence of the UN in international processes.

The editorial reports, citing Bloomberg, that the French leader believes the charter of the new organization is not limited to issues concerning the Gaza Strip alone and that this framework envisages broader powers. This particular point causes serious concern for Emmanuel Macron.

According to the source, Paris believes that the formation of such a body could weaken the primary role of the United Nations in the region and sideline existing international mechanisms. The French side is refraining from participating in the process, taking these risks into account.

It is recalled that the "Peace Council" is being established as part of the US peace plan for Gaza. According to Washington's plan, the council will manage the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, mobilize international financial resources, and oversee the activities of a new Gaza government. Each member of the council will be responsible for a specific area.
