Lebanon Drags Itself into War: Hezbollah Engages in Battle with Israel

Redaksiya · Media ·

Lebanon has been drawn into war once again. Despite warnings from the Lebanese government, Hezbollah has joined the conflict between Iran and Israel. The armed group claims it has the right to respond as part of a movement it calls the "resistance campaign."

As reported by Redaksiya, Hezbollah is carrying out attacks on Israel, while Israel is also bombing southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut. This time, however, the Lebanese government has decided to ban Hezbollah's military activities and demand the surrender of its weapons. However, the group has ignored this warning.

Now that the war between the US, Israel, and Iran has spread to Lebanon, how beneficial could Hezbollah's involvement be for Tehran? And what price will Lebanon ultimately pay? These issues were discussed on the program "Inside Story."

The program was hosted by James Bays. The guests were Heiko Wimmen, Project Director for Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon at the International Crisis Group; Nimrod Novik, a member of the leadership of the Israel Security Commanders; and Nabil Khuri, a non-resident senior fellow at the Arab Center in Washington.
