Israel thwarted Iran's plan to attack the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline

Israel announced on Monday that it had exposed an Iranian network planning to attack the pipeline carrying Azerbaijani oil to the Mediterranean Sea. This network also intended to carry out operations against Israeli and Jewish targets in Azerbaijan.

The editorial office, citing Reuters, reports that the Mossad and Shin Bet intelligence agencies stated in a joint announcement that a plan by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to attack the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, which extends through Georgia to Turkey, was thwarted several weeks ago. The agencies noted that this group had planned attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets in Azerbaijan, including the Israeli embassy, a synagogue in Baku, and leaders of Azerbaijan's Jewish community.

Iran's Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Members of the group, which possessed explosive drones and fragmentation charges, were arrested by Azerbaijani authorities.
