President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the Minister of Defense and Support for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Aziz Nasirzadeh, on February 6.

The head of state recalled his phone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, a few days prior, stating that various high-level contacts create good opportunities for discussing issues related to our bilateral agenda.

Emphasizing that Masoud Pezeshkian's official visit to Azerbaijan last year was successful and yielded good results, President Ilham Aliyev noted that relations have developed since that visit.

The head of state stressed that wars and conflicts are ongoing in many parts of the world, but peace has already been established in the South Caucasus at Azerbaijan's initiative. He expressed confidence that this is of great importance for Iran, which shares borders with both Azerbaijan and Armenia. "We want peace in the whole world, no bloodshed, no wars," said the President of Azerbaijan, highlighting that the transition from war to peace has been demonstrated through Azerbaijan's example.

The head of state stated that, as he mentioned during his phone conversation with the President of Iran, Azerbaijan is concerned about the situation in the region and is ready to offer its support to resolve this tension.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Aziz Nasirzadeh first conveyed the greetings of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to the head of state. The guest, who said he came to Azerbaijan on the instructions of Iran's head of state, emphasized that Masoud Pezeshkian shows great dedication to Azerbaijan.
