The First Vice-President of the French National Assembly, Clémence Guetté, has issued a strong statement regarding NATO, emphasizing the need to re-evaluate France's role in the alliance. According to her, recent international events raise serious questions about the appropriateness of France's participation in NATO.

The editorial reports that Clémence Guetté's statement drew attention to a series of controversial actions by Washington during the presidency of Donald Trump. She raised allegations regarding the US's involvement in the kidnapping of the head of state in Venezuela, its military support for events in Palestine, its threat to forcibly annex Greenland, and its bombardments against various countries in violation of international law.

The statement stressed that NATO effectively acts as a military alliance directed by the US and primarily serving Washington's interests. In this context, the question of how France's continued membership in the alliance aligns with the country's national interests has become even more pressing.

Clémence Guetté also announced that she has submitted a resolution to the French National Assembly regarding the planning of France's withdrawal from NATO. The resolution initially proposes France's withdrawal from the alliance's integrated military command structure.
