Devlet Bahçeli, Chairman of Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), stated that if Israel continues its policy of war, violence, and genocide, all military options based on force would then be considered legitimate. He noted that if Israel cannot be stopped through diplomatic means, armed intervention will be inevitable.
The editorial office reports that Devlet Bahçeli also touched upon domestic political issues in his speech, saying: “If necessary, the commission should go to İmralı and meet directly. All weapons must be destroyed, and individuals not involved in crimes should be reunited with their families.” He also stated that it would be beneficial for İmralı to make a new call to the SDG and for this call to be expanded.
Bahçeli's statements have drawn attention both in terms of increasing tension in the region and Turkey's domestic political agenda. His strong remarks indicate that the growing dissatisfaction with Israel's operations in Gaza is also strengthening at the political level.
