The Milli Majlis has adopted the newly drafted "On the Internal Troops of the Republic of Azerbaijan" bill in its final reading.

The editorial office reports that the bill was discussed at today's plenary session of the parliament.

The bill defines the activities, rights, and responsibilities of the internal troops in the field of protecting Azerbaijan's constitutional order, sovereignty, as well as public order and public safety, and establishes the legal basis for the management of the internal troops.

The new bill reflects the main principles and directions of the internal troops' activities, their composition, duties, powers and rights, financial and logistical support, conditions for the use of physical force, special means, firearms, combat vehicles, and special equipment, as well as control measures over all of these, and so on.

The document consists of six chapters and thirty articles.

It was noted during the discussion that the legal status of Azerbaijan's internal troops is currently regulated by the law "On the Status of Internal Troops" adopted on February 8, 1994.

It was stated that the adoption of the proposed new bill is necessary for strengthening the country's defense capability and ensuring internal stability, and it has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Constitutional Law "On Normative Legal Acts" and the norms of legislative technique.

After discussions, the new bill was put to a vote and adopted in its third reading.
