Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, during her speech, accused large technology companies of causing serious harm to children's well-being. She stated that these companies have earned millions, even billions, by "stealing" children's childhoods.
The editorial reports that the prime minister emphasized that tech giants should no longer evade responsibility. According to her, in return for the vast wealth they have accumulated, these companies owe society, especially the future of children.
Mette Frederiksen noted that this "debt" to be paid by tech giants should be directed towards increasing welfare not only in Denmark but in Europe as a whole. She added that the funds obtained should be used for social development, education, and investment in child protection.
The head of the Danish government called on European countries to take a united stance on this issue, highlighting the importance of forming stricter and fairer mechanisms against the operations of digital giants.
