China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the US demands for Beijing to join the nuclear arms reduction process. In an official statement, it was emphasized that these calls are “neither rational nor realistic.”
The editorial office reports that MFA spokesperson Guo Jiaqun stated his position, saying: “China does not participate in an arms race with any country. Our nuclear power and policy are an important contribution to the cause of peace in the world.”
Chinese officials added that Beijing's nuclear potential cannot be compared with the capabilities of the US, and therefore, the demands put forward by Washington are unfounded.
