On October 21, President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a one-on-one meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.

-Dear Ilham Heydar oglu, it is a great honor and pleasure for me to host you on an official state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is a very important event from the perspective of further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied cooperation between our countries. It can be said with certainty, without exaggeration, that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not only friendly states but also brotherly peoples and nations. Therefore, the development of multifaceted cooperation with your country is a high priority for us. Moreover, under your strong leadership, Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its positions, increased its influence in the international arena, and plays a very important role as a regional power in its part of the world. The development of economic and trade cooperation, and even political partnership, is also an urgent and very important task for us.

We are also pleased with the successes of the fraternal country under your leadership, both in socio-economic development and in strengthening its international standing. Today, Kazakhstan demonstrates a high level of development. Public and political stability is ensured in the country, and the economy is strengthening. We observe with interest the reforms you are implementing and fully support your course aimed at modernizing the country and strengthening its potential.
Regarding our bilateral relations, you noted their strategic, allied nature. We aim to strengthen cooperation in all directions.
Today, within the framework of our talks, a meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council is also planned. We will once again review the broad issues on the agenda and, naturally, identify new steps to strengthen our partnership.
