Shakhtar Donetsk, led by Turkish coach Arda Turan, plays its first official match in the Europa League this evening.
The editorial office reports that the Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, led by Arda Turan, will play its first official match today in the UEFA Europa League I qualifying round. The opponent in the match, which will be held at Stadion Stožice in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, will be Finnish representative Tampereen Ilves. The match will start at 21:00 Baku time.
This match will also determine the potential opponent of Turkish representative Beşiktaş in Europe. Thus, the winner of the Shakhtar – Ilves pair will face Beşiktaş in the UEFA Europa League II qualifying round. Therefore, the "Black Eagles" will play either against Arda Turan's team or the Finnish club.
For Arda Turan, this match will be his first official test as head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk. The match, held outside Ukraine due to security reasons, also holds special significance for Turan, who is starting a new phase in his coaching career.
