An inter-parliamentary meeting between the European Union and the Republic of South Africa will be held in November next year. This meeting aims to further expand cooperation and strengthen dialogue between the parties in various fields. Various topical issues, including international relations, energy transformation, and trade-investment partnership, will be discussed at the meeting.
Redaksiya reports that the 29th European Union-Republic of South Africa Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM) will be held at the European Parliament on 5-6 November 2025. This meeting will take place ahead of the Republic of South Africa's G20 summit presidency (22-23 November 2025). Immediately after the meeting, a meeting will be held between the Government of the Republic of South Africa, the European Council, and the European Commission. The signing of the first Clean Trade and Investment Partnership (CTIP) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Minerals and Metals is expected at this meeting.
The IPM will be co-chaired by Mr. Udo Bullmann (S&D, DE), Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with the Republic of South Africa, and Mr. Supra Mahumapelo, Chair of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa. The delegation from the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa will also include five additional committee chairs. The meeting will discuss the Republic of South Africa's G20 presidency, strengthening multilateralism, energy transformation, and the Clean Trade and Investment Partnership.
