US Strikes Target Military Facilities. Explosions in Caracas

Strong explosions and gunfire were recorded in Caracas at night, with US helicopters observed flying over the capital. Widespread footage showed US airstrikes being carried out at various points in the city.

The editorial office reports, citing Reuters, that after explosions near a large military base in the southern part of Caracas, there was a power outage. According to information, the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base was one of the main targets of US airstrikes.

Based on witness testimonies, strong secondary explosions were recorded after strikes carried out near Higuerote airport. Sky News Arabia claimed that the port in the capital and the residence of the Venezuelan Minister of Defense were also fired upon.

Against the backdrop of these events, the US Federal Aviation Administration issued a NOTAM decision prohibiting the flight of US aircraft at all altitudes in Venezuelan airspace starting from January 3rd at 06:00. At the same time, armored vehicles were reportedly deployed on the streets of Caracas, around the Miraflores Presidential Palace.

According to CBS News, US administration officials confirmed they were aware of reports of explosions and military aviation over Caracas. The appearance of a US Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker refueling aircraft in flight tracking data south of Puerto Rico also drew attention.

The same source reports that US President Donald Trump ordered strikes against targets in Venezuelan territory, including military facilities. Information also emerged that US helicopters targeted the Fort Tiuna military complex in Caracas.
