The US government is considering the possibility of confiscating an oil tanker named Bella, which is reported to be linked to Venezuela. According to information, the US Coast Guard is currently awaiting the involvement of additional forces for the operation.
The editorial reports, citing Reuters, that the US Coast Guard has the authority to carry out law enforcement measures, including boarding and seizing ships subject to sanctions. However, the agency acknowledges a shortage of resources for its increasing workload, including search and rescue and anti-drug operations.
It is noted that previously, the US reportedly sent additional military forces and special aviation assets to the Caribbean. According to separate sources, Osprey-type aircraft and additional MC-130J Commando aircraft have been deployed to the Aguadilla region of Puerto Rico in recent days.
It is recalled that on December 22nd, the US Coast Guard began pursuing the Bella tanker. Earlier, information was disseminated that the US had detained a third oil tanker near the Venezuelan coast.
