The United States and Europe have put forward a new peace plan aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and deploying European forces within the country to prevent future Russian attacks. The initiative also includes expanding US intelligence support.

The editorial reports, citing the NYT, that the proposed mechanism incorporates mandatory security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5 and is intended to ensure the sustainability of any ceasefire agreement. The plan aims to minimize the risk of renewed military pressure from Russia by strengthening Ukraine's defense systems.

The initiative envisages increasing the role of international forces in maintaining stability on Ukrainian territory after a ceasefire, while also reaffirming the West's long-term commitment to supporting Kyiv. US and European partners emphasize that this framework will alter the security balance in the region and serve as a serious deterrent against any potential escalation attempts by Moscow.
