It is reported that the bill providing for the imposition of new sanctions against Russia will not be adopted in the US Senate before the summer recess. "The Hill" publication reported this.

The editorial office reports that, according to the publication, Republican senators are preparing to go on summer recess after the session, which will end in early August. They will only return to Washington in early September. This means that the approval process for new sanctions is postponed until at least autumn.

"The Hill" notes that supporters of tightening sanctions hoped the bill would be adopted before the summer break. However, since this did not happen, the issue of imposing new measures against Russia will remain within the authority of US President Donald Trump until at least autumn. The publication states that this gives Trump greater freedom of action regarding possible restrictions.

Democrats, however, are skeptical that the president will fully exercise this right.

It should be noted that on July 29, US President Donald Trump announced the start of a 10-day period to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine. He stated that otherwise, 100 percent tariffs would be imposed against countries importing energy resources from Russia, and such sanctions would also apply to Russian products.
