Record-Long US Government Shutdown Ends Today

US President Donald Trump has ended the longest shutdown in history by signing a bill that provides temporary funding for the federal government in the country. The document was approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives and allows for the immediate resolution of the paralysis that lasted over 40 days, by ensuring funding until January 30, 2026.

The editorial office reports that this shutdown, which concluded with a record duration, was the result of a long-standing political confrontation between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats objected to the approval of the document, stating that the proposed budget did not provide for an extension of subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire at the end of 2025.

Following the signing of the bill, US President Donald Trump addressed voters, urging them not to forget the consequences of the government shutdown in the next elections. He noted that Democrats were "pleased with the suffering of millions of Americans."
