Comprehensive investigative measures have been carried out based on information received about the creation of illegal armed groups composed of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and their use by foreign special services for intelligence, sabotage, and terror-provocation purposes.
The editorial office reports that the Press Service of the State Security Service (SSS) disseminated information about this.
It was stated that through appropriate measures taken, individuals who organized the activities of an illegal armed group outside the borders of Azerbaijan, were involved in tracking official representatives of foreign states within that group, and engaged in other criminal acts, and who consider themselves representatives of the "criminal underworld" have been identified and exposed.
After the location of Mammadov Amid Saməddin oglu, born in 1995, suspected of committing the aforementioned criminal acts, was determined to be in a foreign country, he was detained as a result of operational-search measures conducted, brought to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and subjected to investigation.
Similarly, Safarov Nurlan Ilham oglu, born in 1997, and Israfilov Edik Nabi oglu, born in 1983, suspected of committing these crimes, were detained and brought to criminal responsibility.
The mentioned individuals have been charged under Articles 12.1 and 279.1 (participation in the activities of armed groups not provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan outside the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan) of the Criminal Code, and a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been chosen for them by court order.
Additional information will be provided to the public regarding ongoing measures and other individuals brought to criminal responsibility.
