Leaders from Poland, Ukraine, and Lithuania have gathered in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, to commemorate the anniversary of the 1863 January Uprising against Russia. The event aimed to preserve historical memory and recall the freedom struggles of the region's peoples.
As reported by the editorial office, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the ceremony, paid special attention to the topic of Belarus in his speech. He stated that the Belarusian people had a real opportunity for freedom in 2020, and although this chance was missed, he believes such an opportunity will arise again in the future.
According to Zelenskyy, the historical struggles of the region's peoples are closely linked to today's political processes, and the idea of freedom does not lose its relevance over time. He emphasized that the fight for democratic values is a long-term process and is irreversible.
Within the framework of the meeting held in Vilnius, the leaders exchanged views on regional security, the preservation of historical memory, and the importance of the struggle for freedom in the modern political context. The event participants noted that the January Uprising holds an important place in the national consciousness of the region's peoples.
