Ukraine has developed the "Shershen" air defense system, which has already been tested with five types of missiles. This was announced by Serhiy Goncharov, Director of the National Association of Defense Industries of Ukraine (NAUDI). According to the "Militarnyi" publication, the creation of this system is aimed at increasing Ukraine's defense capabilities.

The "Redaksiya" reports that the "Shershen" anti-aircraft missile system includes a command post, radar station, launchers, loading vehicles, and transport-loading vehicles. The publication notes that the complex was showcased in the official NAUDI video at the World Defense Show 2026 defense exhibition held in Riyadh on February 12, 2026. The complex's radar station can be adjusted according to the customer's requirements.

According to Goncharov, this eliminates dependence on a single supplier, as suppliers operate in a competitive environment and want to tie customers to themselves for decades. He added that this system is at least three times cheaper than its analogues on the world market. "Militarnyi" notes that the "Shershen" anti-aircraft missile system has already been tested with five types of missiles: Soviet-made, foreign-made, and Ukrainian-made. The NAUDI director stated that if other types of missiles are needed for deployment, work will be done on their adaptation, and this complex can be used with them. Based on the missile's capabilities, the complex belongs to short-range systems. "Militarnyi" compares it to Germany's IRIS-T SLM and the Norwegian-American NASAMS systems.
