U.S. President Donald Trump stressed the importance of holding elections in Ukraine, stating that he believes the war situation should not obstruct the electoral process. He noted that the Ukrainian people should have the right to make political choices and that it is impossible to predict who will win in advance.

The editorial reports that according to Trump, the prolonged absence of elections could raise questions regarding democratic principles, and therefore, the restoration of political processes is necessary. He also noted that democratic governance in Ukraine can only be strengthened through regular elections.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the issue during his visit to Italy, responded briefly to Trump's call, declaring readiness for elections. Zelensky stated that the country's leadership is prepared to fulfill all necessary conditions for the activation of democratic mechanisms.

International observers note that the issue of elections in Ukraine has become a serious topic of discussion from both security and political stability perspectives. In this context, continuing dialogue between the parties is considered an important factor that could influence regional processes.
