A dialogue between US President Donald Trump and a journalist regarding the possibility of providing “Tomahawk” missiles to Ukraine, along with the president's recent statements, became a topic of international discussion.
To the journalist's question, “Did Putin try to prevent you from selling ‘Tomahawk’ missiles to Ukraine?” Trump sarcastically replied:
“Of course, what do you think? Would he say, ‘Please sell those Tomahawks, I'm very grateful to you’?”
Trump added:
- “I don't think any president has ended a war. I have ended eight.”
- “Did Bush or Biden end any war? Biden started wars.”
- “Europe wants to end the war in Ukraine, but cannot. I can. I believe we will be successful.”
- “I told Putin, ‘Would it be a problem if I gave your opposition a few thousand ‘Tomahawk’ missiles?’ He didn't like this idea.”
Touching upon the issue of Hamas and Gaza, Trump stated:
“If Hamas behaves quietly, that's great. If not, we will do what is necessary. We will not enter Gaza, but there are people in our close vicinity who will.”
These statements by Trump have generated widespread resonance both in the context of US foreign policy and regional security.
