"It is not possible to cancel, divide, or give the Nobel Prize to someone else after it has been announced. The decision is final and remains in effect permanently," the statement said.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Trump stated that he had heard about Machado allegedly wanting to give him her prize. According to him, it would be "a great honor" for him.
"I understand that she will come next week, and I look forward to meeting her," the US leader added.
